HISTORY sleuths can learn to dig deeper with the help of experts tomorrow (Tuesday, April 21).
A workshop is being held to encourage amateur historians to get involved with the creation of an online resource mapping the impact of WWI on the people of the North-East.
Thousands of original documents, objects and real-life stories form the basis of the Durham at War website, now running at durhamatwar.org.uk.
The workshop, hosted at the Centre for Local Studies in Darlington's Crown Street Library, will see experts from the Durham County Record Office lead a research session.
The session, taking place from 10am until noon, will look at the history of Darlington during the Great War and will touch on research areas including the voluntary aid detachment hospital at Woodside and the role of the Society of Friends at the time.
Volunteers will be trained to upload their research to the website and no prior experience is needed.
