A man has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Tipu Sultan.
On Sunday afternoon, April 12, police arrested a 35-year-old Newcastle man on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
He is currently in police custody helping police with their inquiries.
The investigation into the murder of Tipu Sultan, which happened in Lake Avenue, South Shields, on Tuesday, April 7, is ongoing and detectives are continuing to urge anyone with any information that could help with inquiries to contact them on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 1255 07/04/15.
Mr Sultan, 32, was found at the back of the Herbs n Spice Kitchen in Lake Avenue on Tuesday night.
Two men riding a large red performance style bike with a black seat were seen leaving Lake Avenue straight after the shooting.
On Friday, police released CCTV footage of the bikers.
