A WEATHER warning has been issued for the region as blizzard conditions hit some areas.
More than an inch of snow fell over higher ground on Friday morning, with some roads in the Yorkshire Dales only passable with extreme caution.
Earlier the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for the North-East and Yorkshire with experts predicting that up to six inches of snow could fall on the hills above 300m.
More snow in forecast on higher ground overnight and on Saturday morning with temperatures across the region varying between 3C and -3C throughout the weekend.
