THE North East is being warned to watch out for heavy rain tomorrow (July 8) which could cause surface flooding.
The Met Office has sent out a yellow warning predicting slow moving heavy showers across the region between 11am and 7pm.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Slow-moving heavy showers, with possible thunder, are likely to develop from late morning on Tuesday across some eastern parts of England and Scotland.
“The public should be aware of possible surface water flooding.”
The spokesman said thunder is also possible but not all areas will be affected.
Where there is rain fall Met Office experts predict more than 30mm to come down over a two hour period.
The Met Office’s chief forecaster said the heavy showers would be caused by an area of low pressure mixing with a moist airmass.
