THE National Railway Museum and model-maker Hornby have been shortlisted for an award at a national celebration of arts and business.

More than 120,000 visited the NRM's Locomotion in Shildon, for the 'Great Gathering' of the Mallard and her five sister A4 engines in February.

The museum and its sponsor, Hornby, are in the running for the Arts and Business Awards Sponsorship award with other contenders including Goldman Sachs and the British Museum and Sennheiser and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Classic FM’s Darren Hedley, who chaired the panel of judges for the award, said their aim was to celebrate the partnerships formed between cultural enterprises, such as the museums, and their commercial sponsors.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 21.

The Arts and Business Awards are being run in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover and the Daily Telegraph.
