It's destiny for TV star who joins race club

9:37am Saturday 7th April 2007

A FORMER TV star and horseracing fan is one of the first members of Yorkshire's newest racing club.

Paul Tulip finished fourth on BBC show The Apprentice after he was fired by Sir Alan Sugar.

He lives in Leeds and has joined Destiny Racing Club, which is based at Newby Hall, near Ripon.

He saw the deal as too good to miss.

Members pay an annual fee to join and receive benefits such as stable visits and meeting jockeys.

It was a dream come true for Mr Tulip, and he signed up with club owner Phil Ambler.

He said: "The financial investment pales into insignificance when compared to all the benefits the club has to offer.

"As a keen racing fan, the club will allow me to be more in touch with what is happening in the industry - without the expense of owning a horse."

Mr Ambler said: "Paul and the other members also see the club as a way of having a fantastic day out, and a chance to experience the glamour, excitement and atmosphere that comes with horse racing - and they have the possibility of being in the winners enclosure."
