A LITTLE girl is fighting for her life after a motorbike ploughed into her buggy.
The 18-month-old was today said to be in a critical condition with potentially life threatening injuries at the RVI in Newcastle.
Her twin brother was also injured and is in a stable condition at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
The accident happened as the twins were being pushed across City Way in Doxford Park, Sunderland, on Wednesday morning.
The twins have been named locally as Logan and Amy.
Their 26-year-old mother and the 30-year-old rider of the Suzuki machine, none of whom has been officially named, were also injured and taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.
The children’s mother was pushing the buggy over the road near the junction with Camberwell Way when the accident happened.
It is believed that one of the youngsters was thrown from the buggy by the impact.
The road was closed for three-and- a-half hours while police accident investigators examined the scene.
Northumbria Police are urging anyone who saw the accident to call them on their non-emergency number ,101, extension 69191.
