NORTH Yorkshire is to play host to its first-ever Fresh Air Festival this summer.
The event will take place at Thirsk Auction Mart on July 24 and will be an opportunity for people to discover what the great outdoors has to offer.
A spokesman for community event organisers Plug and Tap said: "North Yorkshire has so much to offer whether you like gardening, sport or just relaxing outdoors.
"The Fresh Air Festival will not only give people the chance to find out more but workshops and demonstrations will let people get hands on and try things out."
Nordic Walking UK instructor Nicole Brule-Walker will be giving people the opportunity to take part in free taster sessions for her popular sport, while Mike I’Anson and Askham Bryan College will be putting on gardening talks and workshops.
Firefighters will be in attendance giving practical advice on fire safety and allowing children to experience squirting a fire hose and police will be letting locals know about their Countrywatch programme.
The spokesman added: "From tents to wellingtons, the Fresh Air Festival has all you need to let you put on your boots and find your outdoor roots."
Anyone who would like more information including businesses, charities and organisations who would like to get involved in the event are asked to call 01765-609167 or visit freshairfestival.org
