A PERVERT caught with more than 50,000 indecent images of children has been jailed for three years.

David McKay's sick collection of pictures and videos included babies as young as nine months being abused.

Police discovered the images along with an Australian passport when they visited McKay at his new home in Stockton as part of a monitoring programme from an earlier conviction for similar offences.

McKay, 66, then living in Gilesgate Moor, Durham, was jailed for two years and given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) in 2012 for possessing indecent images, voyeurism and stealing female underwear.

After being released, he was moved to Hartington Road in Stockton and almost immediately started downloading filth from the internet.

At Teesside Crown Court he admitted three charges of making indecent images – totalling 54,008 – possessing 18 prohibited images and one of extreme pornography, possessing a paedophile manual, breaching the SOPO and failing to comply with the requirements of sex offender notification.

His barrister, Amrit Jandoo, admitted the offences were "alarming", and told the court that McKay had a heart attack last year, and got pneumonia a week ago while on remand.

Judge Simon Bourne-Arton, QC, told him: "It is clear you are in a fragile way and any period of immediate custody is going to be very difficult for you to serve."
