MAJOR gas works are expected to bring disruption to a North-East town.
The 18-week project by Northern Gas Networks in Belasis Avenue, Billingham, Teesside, is to upgrade the local gas distribution network.
In order to complete the scheme safely and efficiently various traffic measures will be put in place.
Temporary two, three or four-way traffic lights will be erected in Marsh House Avenue, along to Cowpen Lane and progressing to Belasis Avenue.
Shops and businesses in the area will remain open as usual while the work is carried out.
Nigel Pearson, site manager at Northern Gas Networks, said the work was essential.
He said: “We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience people may encounter and thank everyone for their support, as we work to complete this project as safely and quickly as possible.”
