A BUSINESS started in a spare room has gone from earning £15 in its first week to £15 a minute in its 15th year.

Teesside woman Victoria Lynch launched Additional Lengths from her parents’ spare room and is now celebrating its milestone anniversary.

In 2003, the self-taught businesswoman took her flair for hairdressing a step further and, using a grant from the Prince's Trust, started up a hair extension company that has rapidly expanded.

Based at Stockton’s Maxwell Corner, the business – which has a team of 25 - serves a wide customer base, selling extensions across the globe, creating the Remi Cachet line of products and helping those with hair loss.

Ms Lynch said she was proud of how her business had flourished, despite weathering economical setbacks and recession.

She said: “It’s incredible how the business has grown over the years and how much has changed within the industry.

“We are proud of our achievements and to be able to mark this accomplishment and share it with customers and the community. We know we have created something truly special.”

To mark the company's 15th anniversary, the salon hosted two days of celebrations for staff and customers and were joined by the town’s mayor, Cllr Eileen Johnson.
