AN inmate will go on trial accused of attacking a prison officer at a North-East jail.

Daniel Hutchinson appeared at Teesside Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The offence is alleged to have taken place last September.

The 29-year-old was serving a sentence at Holme House Prison in Stockton at the time of the alleged offence, Judge Sean Morris heard.

Hutchinson appeared in court via a live video-link from Armley Jail in Leeds for the hearing.

A trial – which is scheduled to last two days – was set for July 25.

He will be in custody until then.
