A SERVING police inspector - named Middlesbrough's neighbourhood officer of the year in 2016 – has been charged with drink driving, The Northern Echo has learned.
Inspector Tina Notman, of Cleveland Police, who lives in the Thornaby area, was charged with driving while over the prescribed legal limit and being drunk in charge of a vehicle.
The alleged incident is understood to have taken place in February.
Cleveland Police could not confirm where or when any court hearing would take place but said: "A court date will be arranged for a later date."
Insp Notman is understood to have been working as a neighbourhood inspector in Coulby Newham. Last year she was named Middlesbrough neighbourhoods officer of the year 2016 in Police and Crime Commissioner Barry Coppinger's Community Safety awards.
The 49-year-old also previously worked in the force's professional standards department.
