MIDDLESBROUGH’S popular Mela event is return to its original home in the town’s Albert Park.
The event, which celebrates multicultural music, food, fashion and art, has spent the last seven years in Centre Square.
But with work set to start on a new office development it is returning to its original home for what will be its 28th year.
Councillor Naveed Hussain, who is co-chair of the Mela committee, and one of a number of new committee members, said: “Albert Park will bring back wonderful memories for many of our audience who have grown up with the event taking place in the beautiful Victorian park.
“We now have an exciting challenge ahead of us, but I am confident we can look forward to welcoming record crowds again.”
The Mela takes place on Saturday, August 11, and Sunday, August 12.
