A WOMAN was raped in a town centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victim, in her early 20s, is receiving support from rape crisis charities after the incident near the Civic Centre and Town Hall in Middlesbrough.
The reported rape took place at about 4.15am on Saturday.
The area around the Civic Centre on Albert Road was cordoned off over the weekend while crime scene investigators were on scene.
- Officers are continuing to investigate and would appeal for anyone with information to contact Detective Constable John Roberts on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 020171 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
