SIX people were rescued from a fishing boat which had run aground close to Hartlepool last night, Sunday.
Hartlepool's volunteer RNLI lifeboat crew was called out at 6.55pm to help the 19-metre trawler which was grounded close to the entrance to the Hartlepool channel.
The all-weather lifeboat was launched at 7.10pm and was alongside the stricken boat a few minutes later.
It was decided to allow the tide to rise sufficiently before towing the vessel back.
The fishing boat was eventually towed the short distance to Hartlepool Fish Quay at 9.50pm, arriving there at 10.20pm, with all six people on board safe and well.
