SEVENTY years of holy matrimony has been marked with surprise party for a couple still sharing their lives together aged 92 and 89.

George and Ruby Storr were married when he was 22 and she was 19 at St Joseph’s Church, in Norton, near Stockton, when Mr Storr laboured repairing a house damaged during the war in his beloved’s street.

Mrs Storr worked in a Norton laundry before the pair shared their vows and moved to the Roseworth estate for 55 years where they had four children together.

Ex-Green Howards Mr Storr and his wife moved into supported living accommodation at Winford House, in Billingham, in 2015, and enjoyed their surprise platinum anniversary party together this month that had been organised weeks in advance.
