A FIRE that broke out in a high-rise apartment block was successfully extinguished after more than seven firefighter crews were dispatched to the scene.
The blaze began on Tuesday night in one flat within the 12-storey Melsonby Court tower block, in Billingham.
Five fire engines were sent “immediately” to the building off Low Grange Avenue by Cleveland Fire Brigade, which also led to the call out of an aerial platform and a command and control vehicles.
No one was hurt during the incident and the fire was contained within one flat, however several rooms in the apartment have been described as “100 per cent smoke damaged”.
The site has since been fully ventilated by the fire crews, but the cause of the fire remains unknown.
