A FORMER Mayor of Stockton has died at the age of 76.
Tributes were paid last night to Pete Andrew, who was the deputy leader of Stockton Borough Council throughout the 1990s and served as Mayor in 2000/2001.
He was a former civil servant with a keen interest in cricket, and was councillor for the Hardwick ward from 1991 to 2003.
Council leader Bob Cook said: “I was very saddened to hear about Pete’s death.
“He worked very hard for the people of the Borough and cared deeply about the Hardwick ward he represented. Our deepest condolences are with his family.”
Mr Andrew’s funeral service will be held at Stockton Parish Church at 3pm on Wednesday, October 25, followed by a cremation service at Teesside Crematorium at 3.45pm.
His family have asked for donations to be made to the North East Air Ambulance Service in lieu of flowers.
