A PRIMARY school is looking to raise funds to provide food for communities across the world.
St Patrick's primary school in Thornaby, near Stockton, will have collection tins in classrooms in October and November to support aid agency Cafod's annual Harvest appeal.
Pupils at the school have been learning about the work the charity does in El Salvador in South America, as part of their fundraising.
Kate Horsman, nursery teacher at the school, said: "The children will be able to think of people less fortunate than themselves in the wider world and hopefully they will learn how they can do good for others.
“We will also link to our own harvest liturgy, which mainly focuses on our local community who need extra food, as there are people in need within our neighbourhood."
David Cross, CAFOD representative in Middlesbrough, said: “St Patrick’s have always been great supporters of CAFOD and this once again shows the school’s generosity and compassion."
