GENEROUS knitters have donated homemade blankets to elderly care home residents stay warm over the winter months.

Marianne Kitching and Shirley Whitfield from the Thornaby Methodist Church Knitting Club, near Stockton, created the colourful gifts to help keep the residents cosy during the colder months of the year.

They dropped off eight blankets at Mandale House Care Home, on Acklam Road, and plan to knit more over the coming months.

Michael Allen, home manager, said: “We’re so grateful to the ladies of the Thornaby Methodist Church Knitting Club for their generous donation.

“The residents love the blankets and have already picked their favourites," he said.

“Community involvement is so important to us and we’re always glad to hear from groups such as the knitting club who want to support the home and our residents in some way," he added.

Mandale House Care Home is part of the Hill Care Group.
