A MAN has been hit by a bus after an incident on a North-East high street that saw the busy route closed to motorists and pedestrians.
Stockton High Street was closed as emergency services attended to the man after he was struck by the Stagecoach bus at around 1.45pm this afternoon.
Cleveland Police confirmed that they were also called to the scene near The Shambles in Stockton, opposite the entrance to the Castlegate Shopping Centre.
Witnesses reported that the man had been crossing the road in the direction of the shopping centre at a point where there is no pedestrian crossing.
The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and is believed to have suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Stockton High Street was reopened to shoppers and buses at around 2pm.
