A GOLD Rotary watch given as a 21st birthday present was one of the items stolen from a house in Thornaby.
Police are appealing for information after the property on Cardwell Walk in was burgled.
"The incident occurred on Sunday 5th March at around 9pm when a man entered the property whilst the 80-year-old female occupant was still inside," said a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police.
"The suspect took cash from the victim and jewellery. One of the jewellery items is described as a 9ct gold Rotary watch which has the victim’s name on it and “To (victim’s name), on your 21st, from mum and dad” which is of great sentimental value.
"Is it believed the suspect was wearing a black waterproof jacket and black trousers."
- Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the items or anyone who has been offered them for sale, is asked to contact PC Rob Heseltine the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
