THE colours of the rainbow were reflected off the River Tees as Stockton marked Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) month at the weekend.

Lights running from the Princess of Wales Bridge to the Millennium Bridge turned multi-coloured after dark on Saturday and Sunday.

Rainbow colours were also shining outside the town hall and along the High Street in tribute to the LGBT community and the contribution it makes to the local community.

Bob Cook, leader of Stockton Borough Council, said: “The riverside and high street looked spectacular and the multi-coloured lighting was a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate the diversity of our communities.”

LGBT history month, celebrated throughout February, is an annual observation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history that reflects upon the struggle for gay rights and related civil rights movements.
