YOUNG readers enjoyed a storytelling session with a difference when a special guest dropped into a Stockton book shop.

The Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, Sue Snowdon, was joined by the Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Ken Dixon at DRAKE – The Bookshop on Silver Street for the special event.

Mrs Snowdon entertained the youngsters with her interactive rendition of ‘Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas’ by Aaron Blabey and Nick Sharratt favourite, ‘Shark in the Park’.

Cllr Ken Dixon said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Snowdon for reading to the children. What a fantastic morning we all had. It was a lot of fun and wonderful to see the children captivated by the stories.”

Bookshop owner Richard Drake said: “We would like to thank Mrs Snowdon, the Mayor and Mayoress for taking the time to join us at the start of half term. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it seemed like Mrs Snowdon was in her element.”

The bookshop holds story times regularly at 10.30am on Wednesdays and Fridays.
