A VINTAGE tea dance to celebrate Valentine's Day is getting a boost with an appearance by a TV heartthrob.

Strictly Come Dancing star, Giovanni Pernice, has stepped up to take part in a Strictly Valentine’s performance set to be hosted in Stockton next month.

The Italian professional dancer and choreographer will be showing off his moves to dance enthusiasts as part of a 1940s-themed afternoon to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14.

Stockton’s Business Improvement District (BID) revealed the event in a giant marquee in the High Street, would also host a live orchestra.

Karen Hindhaugh, manager of Stockton BID, said: “Strictly Valentine’s is the first of many events we will be running in the town.

“This is a great way to showcase what Stockton has to offer and we hope it will attract dance enthusiasts – and just people who want to have a lovely afternoon out – to come along.”

The dancer has appeared in the last two series of the hit BBC One show, partnering Georgia May Foote and Laura Whitmore.

Ms Hindhaugh added: “To get a dancer of Giovanni’s calibre is a huge coup for us and we can’t wait to welcome him.”

Strictly Valentine’s will run from 2pm until 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 14, and will also feature live music from North-East musicians, The Paul James Band.
