THE replacement of a bridge on one of Stockton Borough’s busiest roads has taken a step forward.
Stockton Borough Council is replacing Londonderry Bridge, on Durham Road, as part of a major flood alleviation scheme at Lustrum Beck.
The project, in partnership with the Environment Agency, will reduce the flood risk to over 150 homes.
And it reached a major milestone this week when the beams for the new, single span bridge were lowered into place by crane.
It is hoped the new Londonderry Bridge will be ready to open towards the end of this year, or early in the New Year.
