MORE than 60 cyclists from across the North-East have been appointed as Stockton’s ‘cycling ambassadors.’

The cyclists from various clubs will promote the town’s cycling events, especially this year’s Stockton Cycling Festival.

Highlights include the Time Trial National Championships on Thursday June 23 and the Women’s and Men’s National Road Race Championships and mass participation family ride on Sunday, June 26.

All of the ambassadors have been supplied with unique cycling kits created especially for Stockton Cycling Festival by event partners Velo29 and Altura.

Cllr Norma Wilburn, Stockton Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “Everyone taking part in this scheme has a real passion for cycling so there is no one better placed than these ambassadors to spread the message and get everyone they meet excited. As well as their good work in starting cycling conversations face-to-face and online, the ambassadors’ special cycling kits help to visually promote Stockton Cycling Festival with instantly recognisable red, white and blue of the Union Flag.”
