A CORGI made from flowers, a floral Union Jack and a cardboard cut-out of Her Majesty are forming a window display tribute to the monarch.

The sisters who run Simply Flowers in Fairfield, Stockton, put together the special window display, which also includes a floral three-tier "cake" to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday on Thursday.

Nicola Place, 43, and Natalie Brooke-Harbron, 29, who call themselves the "flower fairies", said the display had attracted a lot of attention, particularly among the older generation.

The corgi is fashioned out of chicken wire and flowers and the whole display took about a day to create.

Ms Place said: "We just wanted to mark a very special occasion. We have had the window display in for two weeks and it'll be in place until the end of June.

"We like to do something that people can enjoy and they really have enjoyed this. People have been coming in and taking "selfies" with the Queen's cut out.

"This isn't to increase sales, it's just to do something that everyone can enjoy.

"We both love our jobs and we've always been artistic and it's just a bit of fun.

"We always do displays for special occasions, we did one for the Royal wedding, and we did a huge poppy for Remembrance Sunday, and we do a special Halloween display too. I think my favourite was at Christmas when we made a dress out of foliage and a mannequin."
