STUDENTS have been showing their support for the lifesaving work of the British Heart Foundation.

Learners and staff at Stockton Riverside College answered the charity’s call to help raise awareness by dressing in red as part of its Wear It Beat It campaign.

As part of the event the College took on a heart-focused theme with a range of fundraising activities including handmade jewellery, cake, book and balloon sales, a tombola and message board.

Vicky Petrie, the college’s head of marketing and recruitment, said: “We can always rely on our students and staff to get involved when it comes to helping a worthwhile cause.

“The British Heart Foundation’s Wear It Beat It campaign is particularly poignant as, at some point in our lives, we can all be affected by the impact of heart disease, whether that be ourselves directly or through a friend or family member.

“It was great to see so many people come together at the College to show their support. We were delighted to be able to make our own contribution towards the charity’s vital work.”

A social media takeover saw the College’s Facebook and Twitter pages sharing messages about the importance of heart health and the British Heart Foundation’s national mascot, Artie Beat, also dropped in to join the fun.
