STOCKTON got into the festive spirit tonight for a spectacular launch of the town's Stockton Sparkles Winter Festival.

The event included a range of seasonal activities, including performances from street ensemble Orkestra del Sol, a light show, and the return of the singing Christmas Tree.

The Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Ian Dalgarno and Santa Claus arrived on a specially created Flycycle to switch-on the town’s Christmas lights.

Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “Visitors to Stockton Town Centre were in for a real treat this evening as the town is transformed into a winter wonderland."
