STOCKTON got into the festive spirit tonight for a spectacular launch of the town's Stockton Sparkles Winter Festival.
The event included a range of seasonal activities, including performances from street ensemble Orkestra del Sol, a light show, and the return of the singing Christmas Tree.
The Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Ian Dalgarno and Santa Claus arrived on a specially created Flycycle to switch-on the town’s Christmas lights.
Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “Visitors to Stockton Town Centre were in for a real treat this evening as the town is transformed into a winter wonderland."

A Christmas market has also been set up which includes 30 stalls. It runs until Sunday.

There will be a range of street theatre on show, and on Sunday, December 13, an ice-themed reindeer parade will take place.
