A LORRY driver has died after crashing into a lamppost at the A19 interchange at Stockton.
The 56-year-old man was driving a Renault heavy goods vehicle on Haverton Hill Road at the junction with the A19 interchange at around 11.05am today when the accident happened.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "It is believed that he may have suffered a medical episode at the wheel and the vehicle left the road and collided with crash barriers and a lamp post."
The man was airlifted to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital where he died.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact PC Yvonne Herbert from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 207723.
