COMEDY fans have a chance to spot a potential big-hitter of the future when a comedy club holds one of its Beat the Gong specials for new acts.

Catch 22 brings a mix of familiar TV faces and the best comics on the circuit to Stockton all year round but Beat The Gong gives new acts the chance to shine on a night when the audience decides who wins.

Hebburn star and huge ARC favourite Jason Cook is special guest MC, with up to 12 new acts taking the first steps on the comedy ladder.

Peter Vincent of promoters Ten Feet Tall, who work alongside ARC to bring the gigs to town, said: “Big-hitters like John Bishop and Sarah Millican started out at similar gigs to this, and that’s the magic of it all – you just never know what’s going to happen on the night, or who will go on to bigger and better things.

“One thing’s for sure though – the audience decides who beats the dreaded gong and ends up as winner on the night.”

The Beat the Gong special takes place on Friday, October 16, at ARC, Stockton, from 8pm. Tickets costing £7.50 are available from the box office on 01642-525199 or arconline.co.uk
