UP to 100 volunteers are wanted to join a chorus of circus performers as part of Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF).

Performers from across the globe will once again head to Stockton at the end of July, to August 2 for four days of both large scale shows and small, intimate performances.

Volunteers will be able to work with a theatre company on the opening show, The Boat, dressed as circus performers.

They will also have the chance to work on the Community Carnival on August 1, and guide the parade through the High Street.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “SIRF is a major part of our diverse events programme and this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a large-scale, exciting community celebration.

"Not only that but it is a unique chance to meet new people, gain some valuable work experience, and develop your skills. I encourage anyone who would like to volunteer to register their interest.”

No performance experience is necessary but volunteers must be aged 18 or above and be available for rehearsals on the evenings of july 27, 28 and 29.
