THERE’S no chance that children at one Stockton day nursery will ever get tired of playing thanks to a donation from a business in the town.

Little Ladybirds Day Nursery, on the Preston Farm Industrial Estate, received donation of old tyres to use in its outdoor play area. The donation couldn’t have come at a more apt time as they arrived during National Recycle Week.

The tyres, provided by Derek Campbell Exhaust and Tyre Centre, have proved to be a big hit with the children, who are really enjoying using them in their play.

Nursery Manager Jennifer Thompson said: “Using more open ended resources like these are recommended in early years’ education as they encourage the children to be creative and develop their imagination.

“Whether it’s jumping from one tyre to the other, or sitting in them and pretending to be racing drivers, the children are really enjoying playing with them and they are one of the first things they head for when they go outside.

“The tyres take hundreds of years to break down if sent to a landfill site, so opportunities to re-use them in the nursery environment can really make a positive difference. We would like to thank Derek Campbell Exhaust and Tyre Centre for its kind donation.”
