A PLAYWRIGHT is holding auditions to find a star for his latest production.
Steelworks, the new theatre company from playwright Gordon Steel, is looking for a young, female performer to star in a Grow up Granddad which will be performed at Arc, in Stockton, in the autumn.
Mr Steel, known for his work with youth theatres across Teesside as well as writing plays which have been performed across the world, is looking to hold auditions to find someone to play the role of 12-year-old Poppy. Some professional acting experience is required. Auditionees will be expected to perform a short monologue, sing a few lines of song and perform a dance routine which will be taught on the day.
Songs and monologues can also be given on the day but can also be prepared beforehand.
The auditions are free and will be held at Arc on Saturday, May 9.
If successful, auditionees will need to be available for call backs on the afternoon of the same day and also the evening of Thursday. May 14.
