A SCHOOLBOY has won is very own General Egg-lection in an Easter competition.

Charged with taking part in his Stockton school's egg decoration competition, Joseph Thompson, 11, came up with the idea of basing it on the forthcoming General Election.

He created Egg Miliband, Nick Cl-egg, Davefried Cameron, Nigshell Farage but found the Green leader, Natalie Bennett the hardest to name, eventually settling on Natalfree Range-Bennett.

Named as overall winner at his Holy Trinity School in the Rosehill area of town, he came home with a chocolate Easter egg as a prize.

Joe's mother, Jennifer Trees, of Fairfield in Stockton, said: "They do it every year, you can do anything, and we just thought we'd try and do something topical and, of course, the news is full of the General Election at the minute.

"Joe Googled the party colours and just got the eggs, boiled them up and got to work. It was good because he learned quite a lot about our democracy and what it's all about.

"When it came to coming up with the names Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg and even Nigel Farage were quite easy but it took a while to come with Dave Cameron and even longer for Natalie Bennett, but we got there in the end. I think he enjoyed doing it."

Joe's proud grandmother, Carole Jones, of Yarm, said: "Apparently the standard was really high. I liked the sound of the solegg eclipse which came a close second. I'm sure it was all good fun and no bad eggs amongst them."
