AN elderly couple have been left traumatised after a burglar forced his way into their home.

An 83-year-old woman who was with her husband, 85, suffered bruising after being knocked to the ground when the suspect burst into their property on Levendale Close in Yarm before running off towards Leven Road with a small amount of stolen cash.

The terrifying attack happened at about 12.30pm yesterday lunchtime (Wednesday, March 11).

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 40 to 50 years old, slim build, tall and wearing dark clothing and a flat cap.

Detective Sergeant Kenny Clark from Stockton Volume Crime Team, said: “This man has had the audacity to force his way into the home of an elderly couple in broad daylight.

“He has left an 83-year-old woman with bruising and both victims have been left traumatised and in shock about what happened.

“This incident took place in the middle of the day. Someone must have seen this man in the area around the time of the burglary or someone must know who he is."
