A CASH windfall for a Teesside charity has enabled it to provide outreach sports events at schools around the area throughout the half term.

Norton-based autism charity Daisy Chain was nominated by Emma Simkins, director of Henderson Insurance Brokers, for an award from the Aviva Insurance Community Fund, who secured a cheque for £2,000 on their behalf.

That money was spent on equipment to be used at outreach sports clubs throughout the February half term.

These events are open to everybody and one of them was held at Roseberry School in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire which is where Emma Simkins turned up to watch the action.

“We are based in Stockton and have been strong supporters of Daisy Chain for a number of years now and we are only too aware of how much of a difference their services can make to the families of children with autism,” she said. “To see them also provide events like this for all children is extremely rewarding – and a welcome break for mum and dad.”

Tom Burke, Daisy Chain outreach manager said: “Henderson’s have been providing us with help and support for a number of years now and that sort of long term relationship is the best way to ensure we can organise general events like this as well as providing our families with the services they need and deserve.”
