THE popular Stockton Farmers' Market has been given a new home following the £20m refurbishment of the town's High Street.

Organisers are also looking for new food producers to take up stalls as a result of new space caused by the move from Wellington Square to the High Street.

The first Stockton Farmers' Market of the new year will be held on Saturday, March 28, a week after the refurbished town centre is officially 'opened'.

Market manager Lorna Jackson said: “We’re about to start our fifth year of bringing the best local food right into the heart of the town centre, and we can’t wait to get cracking.

“The good news is that we have a brand new home on the High Street, and that’s opened up enough space for us to welcome some more good local food producers to come and join the team, especially with fruit and veg or seafood.

“It would also be perfect for any local community groups or allotment associations, so we’d love to hear from people who’d like to be part of something special.”
