PARENTS are being urged to register their children for a place at a new primary school.

Only 60 places are available to reception age pupils at the new Wynyard Church of England Primary School, which will welcome its first intake in September 2015.

The new 420 pupil primary school on Wynyard Estate, near Billingham, will cater for children in the existing local community and families moving into new houses being built on the estate.

The Venerable Stuart Bain, chairman of governors, said: “We are expecting an extremely healthy demand for places at the new school so it’s important for parents to register their interest as soon as possible, and certainly by the first week of January.

“The need for primary school places in the locality is high. Our new school will be at the heart of the community and we will provide children with a great start in life, high achievement, confidence and strong moral values, developed through excellent teaching, a stimulating curriculum and a robust Church of England ethos.”

The school is backed by the Durham Diocesan Board of Education, a trusted statutory education provider which already has 51 primary schools between the Tyne and the Tees.

Wynyard Church of England Primary will eventually provide 420 places and will be a central part of the community, both for existing families and those new to the area.
