A PANTOMIME is touring local schools to get youngsters in the festive spirit and introduce some children to live theatre.

Performing Arts students from Teesside University, in association with Stockton Riverside College, have breathed new life into the classic, Snow White.

They are staging two free shows a day for two weeks at schools in Middlesbrough and Stockton, starting at Crooksbarn Primary in Norton.

The pantomime forms part of the university’s annual Theatre in Education programme which sees Higher Education students based at the college, put together, market and perform, a seasonal show of their choice

FdA Performing Arts student Chloe McLean, 20, of Billingham, said: “It is hard work, but really enjoyable, and it is great to see the children’s faces.”

“Touring the show puts different demands on the students who take responsibility for putting up and taking down the sets, working the lights, sound, and also organising the costumes, it’s very hands on.”

The FdA and BA (Hons) Performing Arts courses at Stockton Riverside College are delivered in partnership with Teesside University.
