YOUNG people working with Stockton Borough Council’s Youth Direction have been jumping on their bikes to raise money for BBC Children In Need.

The Youth Direction team have been visiting locations all across the borough with their On Your Bike Challenge, which sees keen volunteers get on board static bikes to cycle the distance from John O’Groats to Lands’ End.

On Friday, November 14 Stockton Council is hosting BBC Children in Need with Stockton’s first ever Onesie Party and the BBC will be broadcasting live from the event, which is taking place on Stockton’s High Street from 5pm to 9pm.

Fundraisers from across the region are invited to Stockton to hand in their cheques as part of the event.

Meanwhile, during the Onesie Party young people from the council’s open access and targeted Youth Direction team will be completing the final leg of their fundraising cycling journey inside the Onesie Activity marquee while a video showing the volunteer cyclists’ efforts across the borough will also be screened.

Cllr Ann McCoy, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “So many people have jumped on their bikes and volunteered their time and efforts to raise money during our ‘On Your Bike Challenge'.”

The challenge is part of Stockton Council’s wider fundraising celebration supporting BBC Children In Need. For more information about the challenge or about Stockton’s Onesie Party visit www.stockton.gov.uk/childreninneed
