SANTA hit the treadmill as he prepares to take part in a sponsored fun run in support of Teesside Hospice.

All adult Santas taking part in the 5km run are asked to pay a £10 registration fee which entitles them to a Santa suit, mince pie and hot drink while children pay £5 and receive their very own Santa hat.

And to get them into shape, Everyone Active Eston Leisure Centre, which sponsors of the event, is offering a free day pass to everyone who registers for the Santa Run.

Before the race starts they will also be holding a fun warm up with the Santa runners, including jumping of the sleigh, climbing down the chimney and sack throwing.

Lisa Skelton, sales manager at the Eston Leisure Centre, said “We are delighted to be sponsoring such a fantastic and fun event in our local community and we hope that people will really show their support, get involved and help Teesside Hospice raise even more money than last year.”

Jane O’Byrne, fundraising manager at Teesside Hospice said: “Last year’s Santa Run raised over £5,500. This year we’re hoping to attract 200 runners and make even more money for the Hospice. It’s a great event for the whole family and gets everyone in the Christmas spirit.”

The run takes place on Saturday, December 7 at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough at 11am.
