X FACTOR contestant Kerrianne Covell will be giving an illuminating performance at Stockton’s fireworks display.

Legendary rock classics from past decades will set the scene for the colourful pyrotechnics on the town’s Riverside on November 5.

More than 45,000 people attended Teesside’s biggest fireworks display last year - numbers were up by about 5,000 compared to 2012.

As well as songs from Miss Covell from Norton, who narrowly missed out on a place on the ITV talent competition’s live shows, there will also be appearances from BBC Children in Need mascot, Pudsey Bear, and local folk-inspired band The Jar Family.

Entertainment starts at 6pm before the fireworks are ignited at 7.30pm lasting 25 minutes.

Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The free display which is usually enjoyed by more than 25,000 people in and around Stockton’s Riverside will once again bring exciting entertainment and a magnificent pyrotechnic display to the Town Centre.

“We are proud to host one of the biggest free firework displays in the country.

“It’s much safer and cheaper to come to an organised fireworks event than have your own display so bring family and friends down to the Riverside for a fun night out.”
