A MIX of street theatre, art installation and dance was running through the streets of Stockton this weekend as the community carnival took centre stage on Saturday.

The 27th annual Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) brought acts from around Europe for the four day celebration of the arts.

The highlight for many people was the spectacular performance of The Roof, where people donned headphones and entered an unforgiving computer game that combined a blend of 3D sound, contemporary dance and free running action.

Throughout the four day festival, the town centre, Trinity Gardens and Riverside area were awash with music, dance and the performing arts.
