FAMILIES were transported back to Victorian times as museums from across the region teamed up to offer summer activities.

Preston Park Museum and Grounds, in Stockton, welcomed staff from five museums which celebrate the Tees Valley’s industrial heritage as part of a series of events to encourage schools and families to make the most of local history.

The Victorian Street in Preston Hall was transformed into a hive of activity with displays and practical fun from Head of Steam Museum, in Darlington; Kirkleatham Old Hall; Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum; the Dorman Museum and the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum.

The six museums will work together throughout the summer holidays for the Making a Mark Project, funded by the Arts Council.

Visitors to the museums can pick up a loyalty card, which offers a reward if three activities are completed at any of the facilities during the holidays.
