A WANTED man enjoying the sunny weather went for a ride with the roof down in the car - only for police to spot him more easily.

Three arrests were made after police pulled over the soft-top vehicle in Thornaby yesterday.

Cleveland and Durham Roads Policing Unit said on Facebook: "The sunny weather convinced the driver of this vehicle to pop the roof down and take his mates for a drive.

"This made it easier for a passing armed response vehicle to spot the wanted male sat in the front passenger seat.

"Things got worse for the group when the rear seat passenger was found with cannabis and the driver provided a saliva sample positive for cannabis. Two items suspected to be used as weapons were also located.

"Three males were arrested - one on suspicion of burglary (sat in cells), one on suspicion of possession of cannabis (charged to court), and one on suspicion of drug-driving and possession of offensive weapon (released pending blood results)".
