EVERY corner of Redcar & Cleveland will be getting spruced up for spring.

More than 30 litter picks, Bring Out Your Dross (BOYD) events, and environmental works will take place from now until Thursday, March 8 as part of the Great British Spring Clean.

All the events are linked in with the local borough council's ‘Love it’ campaign, which encourages residents to do one small thing to make a big difference to the environment of their local area.

The council will be helping community & voluntary groups, schools and Scout Groups with equipment and disposing of all the rubbish the groups collect over the course of the two weeks the events are taking place.

Feature events include the Skelton Scouts doing a litter pick at Layland Beck community park, staff from McDonalds in Eston working with council Clean & Green staff to do a litter pick in that area, as well as an always popular BOYD event in Boosbeck and north Grangetown on Monday 5 March and Newcomen ward on Tuesday March 6.

Cllr Alec Brown, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “I want to thank all the dedicated volunteers from various groups across Redcar and Cleveland give up their own time to pick up rubbish in their local area."
