THE North-East coast is to star in two episodes of a television show which pits the country’s best artists against each other.
Two episodes of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2017 were filmed at South Gare, Redcar.
Episode two will go out next Wednesday (October 25) at 8pm, followed by episode four on November 8.
The series is presented by Frank Skinner and Joan Bakewell and saw more than a thousand amateur and professional artists apply for 48 places up for grabs in the six heats.
The winner will receive a £10,000 commission.
Competitors painted South Gare’s historically important fisherman’s huts, set against the backdrop of the now abandoned SSI steel plant, and also ‘Paddy’s Hole’ harbour.
